Hoping for calm after the storm

I hope everyone has come through the recent storms unscathed.

I know there was flooding, roads blocked and power cuts, and we owe a huge thanks to the emergency services and the engineers who worked tirelessly to make sure everyone was safe, damage was minimised and that power was back on as quickly as possible. It can’t have been much fun working in those conditions.

Luckily, I was tucked up safe and warm – as I am most evenings at the moment. It takes something good to tempt me to leave the house at this time of year. It’s just as well there are good things on or I might become a recluse.

Tomorrow (Friday January 17) we have a fabulous quiz in aid of Oban Pipe Band in the Masonic Hall and tonight (Thursday) we have the regular quiz in The

Oban Inn – so that’s two nights out already this week and there are a few things tempting me in the cinema as well just now.

And let’s not forget Homestart Lorn’s Burns Supper which is on Sunday (January 19) in Cuan Mor.

Just in case you want to be well prepared for next weekend, don’t forget the bingo night in aid of the Dove Centre in the Argyllshire Gathering. It’s always a really entertaining night and a good cause.

I’ve noticed a difference in the lighter evenings as well which is encouraging, as it won’t be too long until we’re back to nice bright nights which makes it a bit easier to get out and about.
