Charity cèilidh raises £2,860

Donnie Maroot’s charity cèilidh evening raised £2,860 for the Eilidh MacLeod Memorial Trust last Friday evening, January 10. Congratulations to the winners on the night: Ewen Henderson from Lochaber and Mairi MacLennan from Lewis. The victory, however, was soured slightly by the realisation at the end of the night that Donnie had ordered two trophies which read Strictly Come Cèilidh Dancing Champion 2019 rather than 2020! Perhaps there is still all to play for…

Clydebank cèilidh

On the same night, the Clydebank and District Highland Association held its January cèilidh in the Napier Hall, Old Kilpatrick, with a fantastic line up, including singers Arthur Cormack, Rory MacDiarmid, and Alison Wood. Robert Wood played the pipes and Kirsteen Grant the piano. Margaret MacLeod was the bean an taighe for the evening.

Stirling cèilidh

The Stirling branch of An Comunn Gàidhealach is holding its cèilidh in the Lesser Albert Hall this Saturday, January 18, at 7.30pm. Singers will be Rhona Morrison, DI Brown, and Norman MacKinnon. The young Cluaran Highland Dancers will be in attendance as usual, as well as piper Callum Wynd. Tickets are £6 which includes tea at the interval.
