Young creatives' showcase
A new exhibition has gone on display to showcase work by young people living in Tiree and on the mainland, writes Kathie Griffiths.
The exhibition is being supported by culture, heritage and arts assembly for Argull and the Isles (CHARTS) and will run at Dunoon Burgh Hall until Sunday January 26.
Using filmmaking, digital drawing and animation, the event is part of CHARTs Creative, Confident, Connected, Youth Programme. This is the first youth initiative that has been supported by the almost 400-member-strong charity since it started.
The exhibition shows how complementary activities in Tiree and Dunoon have helped young people to work with professional practitioners to build up creativity and confidence, also linking up with each other.
All those who have taken part have been working towards recognised UK arts awards and are expected to have competed them by next month.
CHARTS chairperson Jo McLean said Creative Digital was to be celebrated for connecting young people with their regional peers, adding: 'By continuing to help create opportunities for young people, supported by professionals of the highest calibre, we hope to assist young ambassadors and enthusiasts of the arts to have their voices heard. A key CHARTS ambition is to establish a youth arts advisory group. I am delighted that Creative, Confident, Connected, through Creative Digital, boasts the first steps towards this aim.'
