Trust changes date of Riverside Walk clear-up

-

Owing to a Met Office warning of high winds and heavy rain, the Kinlochleven Community Trust decided to change the date of its Riverside Walk event to January 18.

The clear-up was originally scheduled for Saturday January 11, but due to a yellow warning for rain through Friday night and into the afternoon, the decision was taken to change the date.

It will now take place from 10am to 2pm this Saturday and lunch will be provided on the day at the Leven Centre.

A representative from the trust said: ‘We apologise for any inconvenience caused but we need to think of the safety of our volunteers.

‘The Riverside Walk has been widely used by walkers from the whole village since the 1970s. KCT now has 17 volunteers signed up and there are around 10 who will be able to make it on the day. We will be providing them with equipment that we have purchased from funding that we required from Paths for All.

‘We will also be providing lunch for the volunteers too. Depending on how many people turn up will determine how much of the path gets tidied up. It may have to be completed over another one or two weekends. However, it will be constant maintenance throughout the year.’

The trust is always looking for volunteers to help with the likes of path maintenance, composting and cleaning up the community.

If anyone who is not already a volunteer and would like to take part, they can contact the KCT office on 01855 831779 or admin@ kinlochleven.co.uk
