The Oban Times

WHERE IS THIS?

- KAY MCDONALD editor@obantimes.co.uk

September already, where has the Summer gone?

I must admit this is my favourite time of year, lovely clear days, beautiful colours and even more gorgeous sunsets.

The sunsets this year seem to have been even more stunning that usual although it maybe that we just had more time to appreciate them.

Social media has been inundated with so many beautiful photographs of the West Coast, we really are lucky in Oban that a short stroll along the seafront can offer fantastic views any time of day or weather but especially in the evening.

We’re not alone in appreciating the views, as many of the responses on social media come from all over the world, with people sharing memories of having visited Oban in the past and wishing to visit again or others saying how the images have inspired them to visit in the future.

We’ve also had plenty of visitors arriving to appreciate the area themselves and hopefully that will continue throughout the year as people take advantage of the beauties of our own country rather than travelling abroad.

Who knows what next year will bring, hopefully something better with a chance to enjoy the things we’ve missed this year – our International Shanty Festival and Storm are two of the things I’ve been disappointed to miss this year, but I have my fingers and toes crossed for 2021.

The photograph last week was of the beautiful window at Hannah’s newsagents in Stevenson Street, and if you go along to see it in person, the wee dog on the beach is Beanie.

This week’s photograph is a really easy one.
