Celebrity 6 Series with internatio­nallyrenow­ned musicians

Celebrity 6 takes place on Friday afternoons and is a chance to hear from some of the world’s leading artists in a small and interactiv­e setting. Sir Antonio Pappano, conductor, pianist and Music Director of the Royal Opera House; pianist Malcolm Martineau; viola player Tabea Zimmermann, violinist Zoë Beyers; and cellist Steven Isserlis all join the pupils of St Marys Music School and guests to share their expertise, insights and inspiratio­n.

SCO Wind and Brass, String and Percussion Academies

In partnershi­p with Scottish Chamber Orchestra these are run over a series of Sunday afternoons and are an opportunit­y to join our pupils and those from other schools to play alongside and learn from the musicians Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

Instrument­al workshops and masterclas­ses

Our online ‘How to Be a Better Player’ series continues with a masterclas­s for young flautists and teachers based around baroque composers Bach and Teleman. It is led by baroque specialist Lis Dooner who played with SCO for 25 years and is suitable for all levels. Piano and brass workshops will follow shortly.

Singing for fun and Saturday Music Classes

For younger children there is Zoomtunes, singing classes on a Friday afterare noon for ages 7 to 9 or our range of group and one-toone instrument­al lessons on a Saturday morning for children age 4 to 12.

Piano, String and Woodwind Summer Schools

Looking ahead we have residentia­l Piano, String and Woodwind Summer Schools which will take place in our beautiful premises in the heart of Edinburgh (digital alternativ­e should courses not be able to run). These are small group sizes (up to 16 players) so you are guaranteed lots of individual attention and for Grade 7 and above. These are all activities that form a regular part of life for pupils at St Mary’s Music School and we are delighted that we can share them more widely with other young musicians and music teachers around the country. With the exception of Saturday music classes and Summer schools, all events are entirely free.
