The Hebridean Toffee Company was founded in 2000. Still the only manufacturing business on the Isle of Barra and with a small family staff, Hebridean Toffee have to date sent their delicious Handmade Scottish tablet to every corner of the world including many prestigious outlets which among others, include Harvey Nichols,The House of Lords,The Queen's summer residence, Balmoral Castle,The Scottish Parliament and Inverlochy Castle Hotel.

Hebridean Toffee was also the first company to include Scottish Tablet into their own wedding favours. They offer tasteful personalised boxes each containing two squares of freshly made Hebridean Toffee wrapped in airtight packaging which will keep fresh for 6 months.

In 2003, Hebridean Toffee were winners of the Best Marketing award by Ernst & Young and were runners-up in the Best New Business category also that year. In 2010, Hebridean Toffee celebrated 10 years of trading and in that time more than 15 thousand metric tonnes of Hebridean Toffee and related products have left Barra bound for many satisfied customers.

The recipe for Hebridean Toffee is naturally a closely guarded secret, as the flavour, colour and aroma is distinctly different to other commercial and hand-made tablets and has an unsurpassed shelf-life of 6 months from date of manufacture as no artificial colouring, flavourings, preservatives or additives are used. Every step of daily production is carried out by hand with no automation in either the cooking or the packaging process.
