Vehicle damaged
Between 5.20pm and 6.20pm on Sunday April 11, in Beinn Lora Drive, Benderloch, a white Audi Q3 motorcar was damaged by having the rear bumper struck by another small red vehicle which failed to stop and report the collision. Police are investigating.
Charged
About 7.45am on Tuesday April 13, police attended the scene of an accident at the B844, Clachan Seil. Checks subsequently revealed there was allegedly no insurance in force for the vehicle and the driver, a 36-year-old man was later charged with the offence. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Drink driving allegation
About 1am on Saturday April 17, after a van was found to have been crashed into a ditch on the A816 near Kilninver, a man, aged 34, was subsequently arrested for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The man was charged with the offence and a report was
submitted to the procurator fiscal.
Assault
About 6pm on Wednesday April 14, at Miller Road, Oban, police attended to a report of a disturbance. Subsequently a 51-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault. He was issued with a recorded police warning.
Theft
Between 5pm on Tuesday 13th and 9am on Wednesday April 14, a quantity of drainage piping was stolen from land in Clachan. Enquiries are continuing and police are appealing for any witnesses.
Vandalism
Between Friday April 2 and Monday April 19, some bricks were damaged and removed from the wall at the rear of the Islay High School gym. Police are investigating.
Road Traffic Incidents
About 1.45pm on Friday April 16, on the A82 near Bridge of Orchy, a collision occurred between a white Volkwagen Transporter van and a red Mercedes car. Subsequently a man, 26, was charged with careless driving.
About 10.30am on Saturday April 17, on the A85 near Dalmally, a motorist was stopped for reportedly exceeding the speed limit. The male biker, aged 47, was charged and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
About 6.30pm on Saturday April 17, on the A85 near Dalmally, a motorist was stopped after reportedly exceeding the speed limit. The 29-year-old female driver was charged and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
About 11am on Saturday April 17, on the A85 near Dalmally, a motorist was stopped for allegedly exceeding the speed limit. The driver, a 45-year-old man, was charged and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
About 6.10pm on Wednesday April 14, on the A846, near to Antrim View, Port Ellen, Islay, a motorist was stopped for allegedly exceeding the speed limit. The driver, a man aged 55, was charged with the offence and also with not wearing his seat belt and having no MOT in force for the vehicle. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
About 5.55pm on Wednesday April 14, on Main Street, Bowmore, Islay, police stopped a van and charged the driver, a man aged 36, for driving while not wearing his seat belt. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
About 6.50pm on Wednesday April 14, on Main Street, Bowmore, Islay, a car was stopped by police for a routine check and the 56-year-old male driver was subsequently charged with having no insurance in force for the vehicle. The vehicle was seized. A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.
