WHERE IS THIS?

With only a few days to go until we see the remainder of retail and hospitality open up in one form or another, it is clear that the town will be busy if last weekend is anything to go by.

With restrictions in travel lifted allowing people to travel further afield, many people took advantage and visited Oban.

There were a lot of people traveling to the area with kayaks, bikes and indeed just visiting to go for a good walk in the hills. With the weather still dry and favourable I think most people were doing anything to get out the house.

Talking of dry weather, this does not come without its dangers and Friday saw a spectacular scrub fire above Longsdale.

All credit to our fire service who tackled the blaze for hours to bring it under control.

If folk are out and about, please be incredibly careful if you are tempted to have a barebecue or fire as this could cause unnecessary work for our emergency services with scrub land being so dry.

Supposedly this has been one of the driest Aprils in Argyll for many years.

Next Monday sees the return of Kay MacDonald and Joe Reich as our town ambassadors. These familiar faces will be pounding the streets and giving a warm welcome to our visitors and pointing them in the right direction in terms of services and attractions.

Kay and Joe hand out thousands of leaflets and maps throughout the season and answer many questions and queries. Welcome back!
