The Oban Times

WHERE IS THIS?

- KAY MCDONALD editor@obantimes.co.uk

Oban is blooming at the moment and it’s really adding to how lovely the town looks.

The baskets provided by BID4Oban are wonderful this year, with all the credit for their care going to Rainbow Landscaping and Argyll Knotweed; thank you guys!

The town gardeners have also provided beautiful bursts of colour with their petunias which really brighten up the flower beds and plant stands around the town.

My favourite display however has to be the baskets and boxes at Aulays, they are spectacular again this year, as they are every year.

I’m always delighted when I see the effort that businesses have put into enhancing their appearance with flower displays; it not only adds to their business but it also enhances the appearance of the whole town.

Bossards is a prime example of this – its beautiful baskets and window boxes really light up the area and make that corner of the town very welcoming. The Lorne and Coast Restaurant are two others worth of mention for their beautiful flowers and the effort they put into maintaining them.

With everyone sitting outside the town has a very relaxed, summery and Continental feel to it just now which everyone seems to be enjoying.

We’ve had a tough time since last March so maybe it’s time to slow down, relax and smell the flowers whilst the summer is here.

The photograph last week was of an information board on the seafront opposite West Coast Motors – well worth a wee read. This week’s photograph is keeping to the theme of flowers.
