Woody stands down from Fort duties, leaving club in good hands

Colin ‘Woody’ Wood has stood down from his duties at Fort William FC and has wished the club well in its future endeavours, writes Fiona Scott.

Having already stood down from his role as vice-president at the AGM last month, Woody remained a director and committee member to help the new board find its feet.

In a statement released last week he said: ‘I am delighted to say that the new board is doing well and the football club is in good hands. With this in mind it is now time for me to resign my directorship and place on the committee.’ A committed fan, Woody said that he will remain as such and that he looks forward to seeing the club continue to build on the work that he and the rest of the Fort FC team have done. ‘I have been privileged to meet some fantastic people, both players and committee members, each of whom have been instrumental in getting the ball further down the field and making sure we still have a team to represent us,’ he added. ‘My highlights are many but they would certainly include the BBC documentary, including Scott Hunter’s panenka penalty and standing with the ultras when we equalised away at Albion Rovers.

‘A power of work has been done both on and off the park but there is still a lot more to do, so if you can spare the time and the energy please contact the club.’

In response, Fort William FC thanked Woody for all the hard work, commitment and energy he has brought to the club over the past few years and wished him and his family all the very best for the future.

This weekend’s Highland League Cup fixture against Brora Rangers has been postponed.
