WHERE IS THIS?

What a weekend we’ve just had. After all the build up and anticipation both Horse on Saturday night in The Rockfield Centre and Storm on Sunday exceeded my expectations beyond belief.

The Rockfield Centre was the perfect setting for the warm and informal concert by Horse whose voice and banter made the hours fly by. Local girl Lora MacLeod got the evening off to a perfect start with her beautiful voice.

After such a lovely evening I really hope more musicians come to The Rockfield Centre to make the most of the space.

Sunday was a spectacular day for Oban, with everything bigger and better than I had expected. Storm herself was amazing as were the team, Vision Mechanics, who made her come alive. The number of people who turned up to see her was phenomenal. The rain stopped and the sun came out – it doesn’t get much better for an event than that.

It leads us nicely to the things that we have to look forward to in the coming months.

First up we have a Vintage Tea Dance this Sunday in aid of the link club, which will be a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon with tea, cake and good music. We’re also looking forward to the Firework Display on November 5, which is set off from the Northern Lighthouse Pier and is always beautiful, and that leads us into the Winter Festival, starting on November 19. Another of my favourite events is on the 27th when we have the Reindeer Parade and Lights Switch On.

I’m a big kid when it comes to seeing Santa.

There’s lots to look forward to in the coming months with Storm a fantastic start to the autumn and winter events.
