Oban’s first baby of the year arrives in a ‘whirlwind’

-

Tiny Storm Stewart’s arrival was definitely not a quiet affair.

The tot was in so much of a hurry to make her entrance, that the journey to Glasgow for the birth had to be cut short after the midwife decided there was no time to lose.

‘We are still pinching ourselves at how perfectly it all went. It was certainly exciting,’ said mum Chiara.

Storm Stewart is Oban’s first baby of 2022. The tiny tot weighed in at 7lbs with a head-full of dark hair. She arrived on Monday January 3 like a ‘whirlwind’, says proud mum Chiara Boni.

‘It had been a bit of a stormy pregnancy and a bit of a wild year for us. She came in a little whirlwind with dark hair so that’s how she got her name - it suits her,’ said Chiara who lives in Breadalbane Street with partner Sean Stewart along with their 16-month son Arlo.

The plan was for Chiara to go to Paisley to give birth because of a complication when Arlo was born but baby Storm was in too much of a hurry to make her debut in the big wide world.

‘The ambulance came for me at 11.10am and we were racing through Connel with blue lights at 11.25am when the midwife decided we had to turn back round to Oban. It was time to push.

‘At 11.58am, just minutes after getting through the hospital doors, she was in my arms. Sean was behind the ambulance in the car with Arlo. He just made it on time.

‘We are still pinching ourselves at how perfect it all went. It was certainly exciting,’ added Chiara who thanked the midwives and paramedics for their ‘spectacular’ care.

‘They were great, the care I got was spectacular. They did everything they could to make me feel comfortable. I’d got a bit upset having to leave Sean and Arlo when I went in the ambulance but they gave me extra cuddles,’ said Chiara.

As for Storm taking the title of Oban's first baby of 2022, her mum and dad will make sure she knows all about it when she gets older.

‘We’d been talking about what if she was a New Year’s Day baby. She was a few days too late for that but it’s lovely she was the first baby born in this area in 2022. It’s pretty special. We will tell her all about it and this story in The Oban Times will definitely be going in her memory box,’ said Chiara.
