‘Bra’vo for Seil’s supportive Bluetits

-

Sea swimmers on Seil are making an uplifting gesture by recycling their unwanted bras to a breast cancer charity.

When Bluetits of Dunearn member Beki Cansdale wanted to help charity Against Breast Cancer, she knew she could rely on her fellow open water swimmers for support. The charity runs its own bra recycling scheme to help raise vital funds for pioneering breast cancer research. Saved from landfill, the bras get a new lease of life by being sent to countries in Africa such as Ghana and Kenya where bras are expensive to make.

Last year the Bluetits also raised more than £2,000 for Breast Cancer Now, by swimming 10 miles in laps of the quarry pool near Seil Island Hall.
