Dalmally glamping pods approved by planners

-

Plans for three glamping pods to be situated at Dalmally have been given the go-ahead by council planners.

The proposal by Jon Strickland for the site on land north of Pirnmill Cladich, in the village east of Oban, attracted no objections from the public.

The three self-contained units are single-storey structures, approximately three metres tall, with an area of approximately 23 square-metres.

An Argyll and Bute Council planning officer said in a report: ‘The pods will nestle into the site without breaking the skyline and where they will not be readily visible from any public vantage points or from the Cladich Steading to the southeast.

‘The site represents a suitable opportunity within the minor settlement for this smallscale tourism development without having any significant adverse impact on the site or wider landscape.

‘[It is also felt to be] one which will benefit the local economy in accordance with one of the central challenges for Argyll and Bute; that of delivering sustainable economic growth.’
