First chance to catch The Right Bus in Oban's Phoenix Cinema

With Valentine's Day fast approachin­g what better way to spend your time than watching a tale of romance unfurl with your loved one at the local cinema, writes Fiona Scott.

And even better? One that was filmed right here in Oban and the beautiful West Coast.

Inspired by a novel of the same name and written by the lead actor's (Ed Ward) father – Glenn Ward – The Right Bus will premiere at Oban Phoenix Cinema on Friday, February 18.

When their absentee father is killed, Danny and Louisa want to show their mother Connie that things are no different without him.

A chance inheritanc­e in Oban that includes the ownership of an island, propels her to get out of London with the children and to make the trip to Scotland.

In Oban they meet marine biologist David Gregson who is completing his survey of migrating seabirds. David shows Connie and the siblings the island and extols its wonders.

Danny and Louisa are completely enraptured by the island and David, but Connie is hesitant. Her head competes with her heart and against her better nature she falls

for David. When Ed and his partner, Suzanne Kendall (who plays Connie), read the novel, they thought it was a soul-stirring, heart-warming story that would lend itself well to film.

The fact that it was set on the west coast of Scotland added further appeal – a beautiful and rugged backdrop befitting of the story's emotional journey.

Producing the film was a true labour of love. Ed and Suzanne pulled all their resources and contacts together, raised the money, managed the production and cast, and acted in it. They hope viewers will enjoy and be inspired by the final result.
