Jordan Headspeath gives reserve champion Angus 2nd of Sorne a kiss after he sold for 27,000gns at the 131st Highland Cattle Spring Sale in Oban on Monday, breaking the breed record.
Angus is staying in Argyll having been bought by Queenie and Jon Strickland for the Cladich fold.
Angus’s breeder Kenneth Headspeath Junior, a farm manager at Borland Farm in Perthshire, said the day was tinged with sadness because his father Kenneth Headspeath Senior, who spent 50 years breeding Highland cattle at the Sorne fold, died last August. ‘He would be chuffed,’ said Kenneth.
