Nominate your unsung heroes now

An appeal for people to nominate those deserving recognition in the Queen’s Honours has resulted in an encouraging response.

Lord-Lieutenant for Argyll and Bute Jane MacLeod made an appeal in The Oban Times in a bid to showcase the area’s great unsung heroes.

Work is now starting on the New Year 2023 Honours round and the nominations deadline is Tuesday April 6.

‘I am extremely encouraged by the response I have received to date,’ she said, adding that she hopes many more Oban Times’ readers ‘will get thinking and prepare your nominations’.

Who is eligible? Somebody who has dedicated a huge amount of their time and lives to helping others.

You can find the online form to nominate here: www. gov.uk/honours. The process can take 12 to 18 months before the recommendations are passed on to the Prime Minister and, ultimately, the Queen for approval.
