Meet Oban’s new dementia advisor

-

Meet Oban and Lorn’s new dementia advisor for Alzheimer Scotland.

The national dementia charity has appointed Arlene Bunton to help it make sure nobody faces living with the condition alone.

Arlene will be helping provide support and information to people with dementia, their carers and families.

The charity also campaigns for the rights of people with dementia and funds vital research.

Arlene is part of a network of advisors across the country, also working along with businesses in the area and the community.

They also offer a range of educational, therapeutic, and social support groups both in person and online.

Every person with a new diagnosis of dementia in Scotland is entitled to a minimum of one year of post-diagnostic support.

Link workers can work with individuals and, where appropriate, their friends and family to help them come to terms with their diagnosis, understand the illness and remain connected to their community

Arlene’s office hours are 10am to 3pm, Monday to Friday.

She said: ‘I have an answering service available and will return calls as soon as I can if you cannot reach me on 01631 570614.

‘We also have a wide array range of information leaflets which can be accessed via our website www.alzscot.org or by request.’

The 24-hour Freephone Dementia Helpline is on 0808 808 3000.
