Breaking the bias with Lochaber Women’s Aid

-

Lochaber Women’s Aid is celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) on Tuesday March 8 with a variety of initiatives.

IWD celebrates the achievements of women.

Lochaber Women’s Aid community prevention coordinator Grace MacIntosh said: ‘While supporting and advocating for women’s rights is a year-round responsibility, celebrating International Women’s Day gives an opportunity to start important conversations.

‘It invites all people of different ages, genders, cultures and backgrounds to consider what part they can take in making our world a more inclusive and equal place.’

The theme International for this year's Women’s Day is #BreakTheBias – gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow – and the Lochaber group is inviting service users to visit The Workshop - a woodworking social enterprise at Lochaber Hope.

Grace explained: ‘Our group of women will be given the opportunity to learn practical DIY skills using materials, tools and guidance provided by The Workshop.

'This session will promote self-empowerment and independence for our service users.’

New branding and an exciting new website are also part of the Fort William-based charity's IWD plans.

The refreshed logo and website (www.lochaberwomensaid.org) is extremely user-friendly to ensure it is easy for everyone to navigate.
