Kilmallie gets green light for wheelie bin stickers

-

Motorists driving through Kilmallie will have no excuse for speeding in the near future as householders take possession of their long-awaited 30mph wheelie bin stickers.

Kilmallie Community Council has been waiting for almost a year for Police Scotland and Highland Council to give it the green light which will enable it to put the initiative into operation.

At last Monday’s monthly meeting members eventually got it and will collect 280 official stickers along with guidance notes in the next couple of weeks.

Community council chairman John Hutchison said: ‘We are pleased that the police are working with us on this and that progress is at last being made.’

The initiative is part of a partnership with Lochaber police which has also resulted in increased camera patrols in Banavie.
