Festival adds extra seasons

-

Seil Winter Wellness Festival organisers have secured funding to help run workshops and fun sessions through spring and summer.

Money from the Prince’s Countryside Fund also means kit that is needed to set up the Seil Island Community cinema is also now in the pot, says Rachel Stroud.

‘It means we can keep bringing our community together, have fun and learn new skills as we go,’ she added.

The Winter Wellness Festival came to an end earlier this month with pottery-making and story-telling sessions. The events, which helped re-connect people after Covid and were funded by the Corra Foundation, have raised more than £1,000 to renovate the island hall's playpark.

‘Thank you to the Corra Foundation for making this happen. We are also delighted to have received funding from Prince’s Countryside Fund to continue similar workshops throughout spring and summer. This funding will also enable us to buy equipment to establish Seil Island Community Cinema,’ added Rachel.

Led by Michaela Goan from SeaTree Argyll, the pottery sessions, creating mythical and nearer to real life animals on Saturday March 5, were a hit with all ages.

More than 15 youngsters also enjoyed Stories of the Sea with Corelo Productions on Sunday March 6, hearing tales from below the waves, delving into the realms of kelpies, selkies and other sea creatures, accompanied by live music.
