The Oban Times

Are you ready for a good time?

Let’s rock and roll and reel, read and revel, and sail and stargaze, sing and dance and pipe our way through the 2022 season – we are all so ready to celebrate the good things in life

-

Spring and summer 2022 we have been so looking forward to you! From now through to the autumn we have so many things to anticipate, come together and enjoy – right through to our end-of-year Christmas festivals, in fact.

We need to celebrate the good to remind ourselves about all that’s best, joyous and fun.

It is time to enjoy all the skills and talents we have in our midst – be they musical, cultural, creative, sporting, nurturing or social. We have been through, and are facing, some bad in Europe inflation. The only way you can defeat the negative is with positivity. Spirits need lifting, life needs reaffirming and all that is good needs to be embraced and enjoyed. We need to re-energise and reaffirm so we can go forward in good heart.

What better way than joining up with other people at festivals and events – and there are so many to choose from all the way across the West Highlands and islands times; the pandemic, war and the prospects of rising in the coming months. We have music festivals and we can rightly take pride in all of them, from traditional, Gaelic, punk, rock, to opera, classical and jazz. Highland culture has music at its heart and it also has good food harvested from land and sea created by our talented chefs and cooks.

And you know one of the most amazing things? Almost all of the talent you will encounter will be home grown! We should be so proud.

That’s not to mention all the world-class drink distilled and brewed here, all created in a wonderful landscape you can explore by land or sea under night skies full of stars. And you will find festivals and workshops taking place throughout the summer to celebrate each and every one of these. We won’t be alone in our celebrations; the West Highlands and islands is a major tourist destination. Advance bookings are showing that this will be a bumper year for visitors, all wanting to join in this big party. So join in, join up, come and enjoy life to the full.
