Celtic get Lochaber trip in cup draw
Oban Celtic will travel to Spean Bridge to play Lochaber following the Tulloch Homes Camanachd Cup first round draw at the Pavilion, Strathpeffer, on Thursday March 17.
Lochaber and Oban Celtic met at the same venue on the second Saturday of the new season with Conor Sweeney’s double helping the hosts to a 3-1 win.
Oban Celtic manager Dougie MacIntyre said: ‘It’s an exciting but tough tie. Having already lost away in the league to Lochaber, I think we will be better prepared for the cup tie. We should have quite a different team on the field by the time the game comes around and hopefully the tie will go our way this time.’
The draw was made by Peat & Diesel just ahead of their soldout gig at the same venue and the popular Stornoway trio will also headline a concert following the Camanachd Cup Final at the Dell, Kingussie, on Saturday September 17.
Also in attendance for the draw were Camanachd Association president Steven MacKenzie, Tulloch Homes managing director Sandy Grant and Innes Smith, Springfield Properties chief executive officer.
The first round ties take place on Saturday April 16 and the draw is as follows:
North Section
Glenurquhart v
Skye Camanachd Inverness v Strathglass Glengarry v Beauly
South Section
Lochaber v Oban Celtic Byes: Inveraray, Bute Kingussie will be this year’s hosts at The Dell in September and this opening ballot injects momentum into what seems to be a wide open contest as to which two teams will reach the final.
