How to get to the Isle of Jura Music Festival

-

Getting to Jura could not be easier. For the very rich: charter a sea plane or pilot your jet into Islay Airport. Super yachts should anchor off-shore and passengers use one of the motor launches; helicopters can be accommodated on the island with advance notice or use Islay Airport.

For the rest of us heading to Jura for the music festival, who aren’t yachties, or don’t have some handy cousins who own a fishing boat, the secret is to get yourselves to Tayvallich to catch the Jura passenger ferry to Craighouse.

You can arrive at Port Askaig by CalMac ferry or by flying into Islay Airport on a scheduled service and booking a taxi.

CalMac’s most frequent sailings are from Kennacraig to Port Askaig or Port Ellen; if you catch the boat for Port Ellen, then it’s the bus or a taxi for you.

But once on Jura, whatever your bank balance, whatever the weather and whether you are young or old, a good time is guaranteed. See you there. And don’t forget the Jura Hotel offers a camping package.
