Counting down to Lochaber Phoenix Home Show

-

Extra training is under way at Lochaber Phoenix Boxing Club in preparation for its forthcoming Home Show on April 23.

The event is being held in The Nevis Centre with up to 12 bouts and an expected audience of more than 500.

The club is open to anyone from nine years old up and boasts a strong and enthusiastic membership who are all keen to get fit, lead a healthy lifestyle and participate in the sport.

Since its formation more than 15 years ago, Lochaber Phoenix has highlighted a wealth of local talent. It has brought home championship titles since its first national competitions and has also supplied members to the Scotland National Squad.

In the last few months, this award-winning streak has continued with bronze, silver and gold medals, both male and female, in the first round of Scottish National Championships since Covid restrictions were relaxed.

It is hoped some of these experienced medallists will be taking to the ring next month alongside their clubmates and a few debut boxers, but matching their talents to opponents can be a long and taxing job, subject to change almost until the last minute.

Every home show is a sell-out event and this one is shaping up to be no different. For ticket sales contact the Lochaber Boxing Club Facebook page.
