Museum gets out and about
Kilmartin Museum is out on tour with a specially-created museum.
Bones, burials and prehistoric pots all featured when the museum’s education team visited Dalmally Primary School.
The specially-created mobile museum has an extensive tour of mainland and island schools ahead of it while the main museum is shut for redevelopment.
So far it has been to Lismore, Campbeltown, Oban and Benderloch with a visit to Tiree planned for May. More schools are in the pipeline and the museum will also be at community events over the summer.
‘This is a great, fun way to learn not just about the amazing prehistoric monuments of Kilmartin Glen and the people that once walked amongst them, but also other Argyll and Bute sites.
‘We have had fantastic opportunities so far to visit schools and have received excellent feedback from teaching staff and pupils,’ said an education team spokesperson.
