Retired councillor offers thanks for all the support

I would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported me during the last 15 years.

Supported me to a level that has allowed me to fulfill the role as an elected member despite having a progressive form of MS.

First and foremost massive thanks to my son and daughter-in-law for their tolerance and patience. I have had my moments over the years but they have always been there for me.

I am truly thankful for the excellent health team that supports me in so many ways. My local Mull team, Oban team and my consultants and team at the Physical Disabled Rehab Unit in Inverclyde Hospital. All of this care has played a major part in keeping me mobile and active.

Thanks to my friends who are always there for me.

Thanks to Argyll and Bute senior management team who put in place systems that ensured my terms of travel were met. Thanks to Iain and Andrew my two drivers who chauffeured me around half of Scotland with great patience – I will miss my early morning McDonald’s on the way to Inverness. Thanks also to the member services team who kept me on the straight and narrow, and all the staff in departments who supported me throughout the years. A huge thank you.

Thanks is due also to the Mull and Oban crews and shore staff of CalMac for ensuring that my travel is always trouble free. I have been spoiled with my special coffee delivered in my wee red cup. Thanks also to the Mull bus drivers.

Thanks to Andrew and Louise in the Tobermory office who always make sure my printing and papers are done for me.

There are so many people who have gone out of their way over the years, making my life so much easier. The communities of the islands I represent, community councils...The list goes on and on. Apologies to anyone I have omitted.

It has been a pleasure working with you all over the years.

Wishing the newly elected members much happiness and fun – yes, I have had lots of fun and happiness over the years.
