Wheels of success keep turning for cycle club

-

North Argyll Cycle Club members have been clocking up the miles and bagging rewards in the process.

Competing at the Scottish Student Sport Time Trial Championships in Pencaitland on Sunday March 27 were Carolyn Chambers, Charlotte Forbes and Matiss Robertson.

Currently studying at the University of the Highlands and Islands, Matiss hit the ground running in the student championships taking the third podium place with a time of 21 minutes and 59 seconds.

Competing in the non student women’s category, Carolyn and Charlotte were equally on form with both managing the technical course well to take first and third respectively.

Speaking after the event Matiss said: ‘It was a good day for North Argyll cyclists, which is great for the club.

‘The course was a bit different from what we are used to and kept us engaged throughout. There were some pretty windy descents and it was fun to ride.

‘Carolyn and Charlotte did really well. It was good to see them down there flying the flag for the club.’

On the same day Alison Rogers was racing in Elgin at the Pluscarden Shield Hilly 18 mile TT, run by Elgin Cycling Club.

Alison beat her fellow competitors to take the women’s top spot in one hour and 42 seconds.
