Skiff launch offers chance to go messing about on the water

-

Glencoe Boat Club is throwing open its doors on Saturday April 9, for the official launch of its new community rowing skiff.

Corrag has been hand-built from scratch by former GBC Commodore and ex-submariner David Southcott, who has dedicated many hours of his time to the work over the past few years.

The boat is a St Ayles skiff designed to be rowed by a team of four people with a cox to steer and GBC hopes to attract local folk to head down to the club at Tigh Phuirt and enjoy a regular row out on the loch.

The launch event will feature a naming ceremony, live music from local musicians, try-a-row sessions (for over-16s only) and free refreshments.

Visiting skiffs from other clubs in the area, including Appin, Loch Awe and Seil Island, will also join a row in company on Loch Leven – it should be quite a spectacle.

Everyone is welcome to go along and help wish the boat (and her crews) well.
