WHO IS THIS?

Where has the time gone? I can’t believe we’re in April already but I’m delighted as it’s one of my favourite months, with lighter nights and mornings, daffodils everywhere and wee lambs, as well as hopefully slightly warmer weather.

This month also sees the first of our cruise ships calling on the 19th, it’s one of the smaller expedition ships but it’s no less exciting to be welcoming them again. Eleven ships of varying sizes will be visiting us between now and the end of September, some of them for the first time, and although it means an early start for Joe and me – we usually have to be ready for 8am – it’s always something we look forward to. It also means the start of walking tours again with guides taking passengers up to McCaig’s Tower and along the Esplanade to tell them about Oban’s history and give them an idea of what it’s like to live in a town on the west coast of Scotland.

As a proud Obanite the hardest part of walking tours is always knowing when to stop talking, it’s difficult to fit it all into an hour and a half when there is so much to say about our lovely wee town.

Before that though, we have another busy weekend of good music around the town with Manran supported by Ceol an Aire and Chunks at the Corran Halls on Saturday. The View have Brownbear playing on Friday with Rock & Reel on Saturday, so it’s time to get your dancing shoes out.
