Victories come in two by two for South Lochaber Thistle

It would appear that animals on the ark, public transport conveyances and South Lochaber Thistle victories all like to arrive in pairs too, after two wins in two weeks broke the team’s winless run since the start of the year.
The Greater Glasgow Premier League side welcomed Glasgow University A to Claggan Park with the visitors arriving four points ahead of the hosts.
In the end, however, the Jags were able to field their strongest line-up of the season and barely broke sweat putting the students to the sword.
The opening exchanges saw things remain goalless as both teams sought to make the breakthrough. Fan favourite Iain MacLellan combined with captain Martin Munro to force the students’ keeper into a string of accomplished saves.
Eventually the opening goal came from a Munro shot with only ten minutes of the first half remaining. The Glasgow keeper did well to keep the ball out but was powerless to stop utility substitute Sean Noble tucking away the rebound.
Four minutes later, the advantage was doubled. Munro scored with a trademark finish as he cut in from the left and let rip with a powered drive to put the Jags out of sight.
After the break, the game was quickly finished as a contest. Glasgow conceded a penalty for hand ball and the spot kick was dispatched with impish glee by set piece expert Noble to secure his brace.
Manager Alan Gray said: ‘This was as strong a line-up as we have put out this season and I thought we were excellent.
‘The back four coped with everything thrown at them and going forward we never really needed to get out of second gear. This result pushes us clear of the relegation zone and - with games in hand - I expect to see us pushing as far up the table as we can go.’
South Lochaber Thistle head to Erskine on Saturday.
