Kevin sets benchmark for Legion Scotland

-

Members of Fort William and District Branch of Legion Scotland have dedicated a memorial bench to the late Lieutenant Colonel Kevin Lane in honour of his timeless dedication throughout the years to raising funds to care for veterans and support the Armed Forces, writes Fiona Scott.

The bench has been installed on Fort William’s Parade near the War Memorial alongside two other benches dedicated to First World War and Second World War veterans, for which Kevin played an instrumental role in raising funds for their commissioning and installation.

Kevin’s wife Jeanette, also an active member of the local branch, said: ‘Kevin lived by the Legion motto ‘service not self’ and did all he could to help veterans and their families in our community to try and make a difference in their everyday lives.

‘That being the case, it was felt that this would be a fitting way to remember him.’
