The Oban Times

WHO IS THIS?

We were very lucky with the weather over Easter weekend, despite an awful forecast, and it was lovely to see all the pictures of beautiful sunsets posted on Facebook.

One of my favourite things about all the local Facebook pages is the fabulous photographs of the area and town that are posted. Even though I live here and can see it for myself, I still love looking at them all.

I’m delighted another new shop has opened in the town. Gems of the Highlands is now open on Albany Street, which is a welcome addition, and the new version of Nories is now open as well and looking lovely.

I’ve enjoyed seeing the old shop signs become visible during renovations lately and all the discussions that have followed about what shops were where and who worked there.

It’s lovely that so much of the history of the town has remained, even if it has been hidden.

This weekend I’m also delighted that the ABCD quiz, which had been postponed, is on in the Royal Hotel on Friday at 7pm for 7.30pm. It is always a great evening, with a fantastic raffle and quiz master extraordinaire Tony Cave in charge.

Oban Phoenix Cinema also has some fantastic films at the moment. I must recommend Coda which I saw with my godson Alex. We were both so moved by the story and acting. It is well worth seeing.

As always there’s great music around the town in all the usual haunts and I hear one of my old favourites will be coming back, with the Mantrap making a welcome return.

This week’s photograph is another familiar face around the town.
