Mull turbine approved

-

Planning permission has been granted for a wind turbine to be installed near a shellfish factory on the Isle of Mull.

Argyll and Bute Council planning officers gave the go-ahead for the proposal by the Inverlussa Shellfish Company, whose premises are at Lochdon.

No objections were received from the public and statutory consultees confirmed they had no objections subject to conditions being put in place.

A planning officer said: ‘Given the commercial structures and activity within this location, it is not considered the introduction of a single wind turbine within this location will have a significant detrimental impact on the surrounding landscape.

‘The proposed turbine is a Britwind H15 Class IV which has a hub height of 18.5 metres, [and] a blade diameter of 13.1 metres with an overall maximum base to tip height of 25 metres. With this current application, the proposed turbine is 10 metres lower than the overall maximum height of the small typology.’
