An exciting initiative to support the recovery of Scotland’s live music industry will come to Astley Hall, Arisaig, this April.

The first in a series of special Scotland on Tour concerts taking place at the venue will be singer-songwriter Adam Holmes who will be in concert on Tuesday April 26.

This will be the first of five confirmed dates scheduled for the venue with the programming team working on a potential five more dates, to be announced. This incredible night of entertainment will launch the concert series in spectacular style.

Adam is hailed as one of Scotland’s finest singer-songwriters. With four critically acclaimed albums under his belt, the inimitable performer has cast an impressive shadow across the UK folk scene in recent years. Having gained numerous Scottish Album of the Year nominations and a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nomination, Adam’s lyricism and musicality continues to shine bright across the Scottish musical landscape. Adam’s masterful songwriting and his unique voice has seen him work with the likes of Eddi Reader, Karine Polwart, Aidan Moffat, Anaïs Mitchell, and Graham Coxon to name a few.

Speaking ahead of his visit Adam said: ‘It’s been a long time coming but I am really looking forward to getting back out on the road with Scotland on Tour.

‘Playing to audiences in places like Astley Hall will be extra special as venues such as this aren’t usually part of my typical touring circuit. It will make each gig even more unique as it is a whole new experience in each location.’

Scotland on Tour will take place over 12 months, between April 2022 and 2023. The remaining four concerts taking place as part of the Astley Hall series are Dàimh on Thursday June 16, Ciaran Ryan Band (Saturday August 13), Pictish Trail (Saturday September 17) and Dallahan (Thursday October 27).

Eilidh Shaw, who is part of the programming team for this series, said: ‘Fèis na Mara are delighted to be hosting the Scotland on Tour gigs in Arisaig. It’s a beautiful hall in a spectacular part of the country where music has always been at the heart of everything. It’s an honour to have a world-class artist such as Adam to kick things off for us.’

Scotland on Tour supports the creation of hundreds of concerts and performances at much-loved arts centres, town halls and community venues across Scotland. More than 120 artists are set to perform at more than 100 venues across the country as part of the initiative.

The project, which has been created and managed by Active Events, was made possible by £750,000 of Scottish Government backing and will focus on increasing the number of opportunities to showcase and enjoy live music while bringing exciting acts to the doorstep of city, towns, villages and rural communities.
