The Oban Times

Return of first-class service?

Cooperation is needed

-

After months of toing and froing with Royal Mail about a lack of staff in the Oban area and the impact this has had on some deliveries, particularly on people waiting for hospital appointments – not to mention on existing staff – it finally looks as though there might be some light at the end of this tunnel.

This week, thanks to dogged persistence by our reporter Sandy Neil, Royal Mail has finally said there is now no backlog of mail to be delivered from the Oban sorting office and that a number of measures have been put in place, including more staff, which should ensure the problem is kept at bay.

Only time will tell, but we hope Royal Mail does not take its eye off the ball in Oban as their customers and staff deserve nothing less.
