Nominations open for volunteer awards

-

The Voscars are back this year and it is time to place your nominations.

Voluntary Action Lochaber (VAL) will lay out the red carpet for the glitzy event to thank volunteers and organisations across the region on Thursday June 2 as part of National Volunteers Week.

Due to the pandemic VAL, the supporting body of voluntary organisations in the area, has been unable to host the celebrations over the previous two years.

Dani Drummond from VAL said: ‘I feel there has never been a more important time to say thank you to all our volunteers within our community, especially after the incredible response to the pandemic.

‘Lochaber has a thriving, vibrant third sector thanks to the commitment, skills and dedication of voluntary organisations and their volunteers.

‘If you know someone or an organisation that has significantly contributed to volunteering in the Lochaber area, then please nominate them.’

The awards are split into six categories: Volunteer of the Year (over 25); Young Scot

Volunteer of the Year (under 25); Organisation of the Year; Lifetime Achievement Award; Board/Committee Member of the Year; Best Supporting (volunteers) Organisation.

Nomination forms are available from VAL by email: volunteering@valochaber.org or at valochaber.org and on the VAL Facebook page. Entries should be returned to VAL by noon on Monday May 16.

Voluntary Action would like to thank The Rotary Club, Strathmore Hotels, Mowi and Shiel Buses for their support of this ‘red carpet’ event.
