Hustings cancelled
The hustings due to be hosted by Lochaber Chamber of Commerce on Thursday involving candidates for the upcoming local authority elections has been cancelled.
Chamber chief executive officer Frazer Coupland said it was regrettable, but added: ‘The lack of availability or unwillingness from a number of candidates and councillors would render the event not worthwhile and productive, hence my decision. Thank you to all the nominees for standing for these key roles within our community. I look forward to working with our Highland Council representatives once elections are complete and new councillors have been confirmed.
‘I think it would be useful for all of our representatives to engage with the business community at a mutually convenient time.
‘Lochaber Chamber of Commerce will be more than happy to facilitate this and work with all parties to bring these healthy discussions and debate into fruition.’
