Sarah Fanet: SNP
It is my privilege, as your SNP candidate, to ask for your vote to re-elect me to represent the ward of Fort William and Ardnamurchan.
Since election in December 2021, I have engaged with communities and local groups. If re-elected, I will continue to hold local surgeries, and work closely with the other local councillors, our MP and MSPs to represent your views. Community involvement is fundamental to the planning of our services.
I have worked closely with Highland Council officers to highlight roads in urgent need of repair. Priorities for road repairs must be reassessed, with the involvement of communities.
Discussions around the Corran Ferry must resume as soon as possible to ensure funding opportunities are not missed.
I will work alongside my SNP colleagues to ensure that a minimum of 2,000 houses are built in the Highlands, and that Lochaber benefits fully from this ambitious target. Our local housing provision must reflect both the needs of our communities and the need for housing for keyworkers providing vital services. This must include social and affordable housing that is energy efficient for low income households.
I will continue to support stability in our children’s learning by ensuring schools are adequately staffed and supported, with an emphasis on special needs provision.
I will work with our local businesses on the Fort William 2040 campaign, to deliver a local economy that works for both local residents and visitors.
The coming five years must see increased investment in our infrastructure, roads and services, and ensure that we take advantage of our renewable energy potential.
I will ensure that your views are heard within Highland Council, and that our local communities share in the future development of the Highlands.
