Dr Kate Willis: Scottish Greens
With the climate and ecological emergencies, and the cost of living crisis intensifying, it is time for Highland Council to take action to meet our climate change targets and to ensure the Highlands transition to a future that can be sustained for generations to come.
I have lived in the Highlands for nearly 20 years, and as a local resident, if elected, I will represent you to ensure that council decisions and funding reflect the voices and needs of Lochaber.
I am standing as a candidate for the Scottish Greens because they have a track record of delivering sweeping positive change in parliament, government and council.
The Greens’ commitment to a fairer and greener Scotland translates into positive impacts for people and nature, not just the friends and funders of those in power.
The Scottish Greens represent a better tomorrow and are the only party actively working to tackle the climate and ecological crises and a people-centred Just Transition towards a more sustainable future. As a grass-roots people-powered party, we are the only party that is truly prepared to deliver for our communities. I will be guided by the Green’s Highlands manifesto, working to build inclusive resilient communities and create local jobs, with more affordable warm homes for local people; sustainable tourism that benefits Highland communities and regulates short-term lets; improved active travel infrastructure and public transport services; better access to health services; and supporting local schools.
We need to work together to tackle the climate and ecological crises, create local jobs, and build a fairer sustainable Highlands for our children and grandchildren to grow up in.
With your first preference votes on May 5 I can work to deliver a council that listens to people beyond Inverness. The time for change is now.
