Lochaber Rugby Football Club travelled to Highland Rugby Club on Saturday April 23 to face the ‘Raptors’ XV in the Two Ronnie’s Cup 1st Leg - a rejuvenated fixture between the two old rivals as part of Highland Rugby Club’s centenary year.

The Two Ronnie’s Cup was bought by Ronnie Bremner from Highland and Ronnie Young from Lochaber. In their day, the two businessmen from Inverness and Fort William played against each other and wanted to establish an annual cup fixture between their respective clubs.

The final score after the first leg was Highland 12 Lochaber 53. Scorers - Highland: R Cameron, try, 38 minutes; F Craig, try, 48 minutes. Lochaber: A Kennard, tries, 10 and 73 minutes; L Morrison, tries 13 and 68 minutes; H Hodges, try, 15 minutes; E M John, tries, 21 and 66 minutes; Euan Larter, try, 29 minutes.

Both sides thoroughly enjoyed the game and are looking forward to the second leg at Banavie in August.
