Young Oban Saints win league title undefeated

An Oban Saints youth football team made history on Sunday April 24 when they won the Glasgow and District Youth Football Under 15s League undefeated.

Oban Saints 2007s under 15s beat BSC Glasgow 7-2 in their final game of the season, confirming the league win and an undefeated season.

The young Saints recorded 15 wins and three draws to secure the title.

All the players are in third year at Oban High School and have come through the Oban Primary School Sunday morning set-up.

The team's three coaches, Jim Muir, Keith Millar and Alasdair Crowe, could not be more proud of the players.

‘Over the season they have had to show great resilience and dig deep for results and they delivered,' said Alasdair.

‘We are very lucky to have such a great group with supportive parents to help with training and away trips.'

The final game was a clash of the top two teams in the league. Both teams were evenly matched in

Oban were time.

The beginning of the second the first half 2-0 ahead at but half half saw BSC applying a lot of pressure on the Oban defence but they held firm. During the course of the second half, all players that were available got game time in appreciati­on of the significan­ce of the day on a beautiful sunny afternoon at

Oban High School. Goal scorers for Oban Saints 2007s were Owen Lloyd 3, James Muir 2 and Rhys Millar 2.
