The Oban Times

WHO IS THIS?

- KAY MCDONALD editor@obantimes.co.uk

The dreaded Covid struck but that’s me back and raring to go again with lots to look forward to.

I was hoping to be going to see Paulo Nutini at the end of the month but like many people I wasn’t lucky enough to get tickets, however, there’s lots of good music on this weekend, with Markie Dans hosting a Beach Party Disco on Friday – just what you need in weather like this – and Rock & Reel on Saturday. The Oban Inn has Ron Johnston tonight (Thursday) and the Tritones on Saturday, while The View have an interesting sounding band on Sunday called Wildwood Jack, it has all the hallmarks of a good weekend!

If knitting, sewing, baking and all things crafty is more your thing then the Corran Halls is the place to be on Saturday where the Argyll Federation of the Scottish Women’s Institute has its bi-annual show. All the Institute members within Argyll will be contributing to the show. I’m always amazed at the creativity and talent we have in our area and I love getting the chance to see so much of it in one place. The local Cancer Research group will be selling teas and coffees between 10.30am and 2pm, and soup and rolls from noon-2pm.

Next week we have the return of the cruise ship Spitzbergen to the town, which looked beautiful sitting in the bay last time it visited, and the week after that we have a ship called Silver Moon visiting, which I’m sure it will be as beautiful as it sounds.

My last photograph was of the lovely Allan McKechnie at Rutherfords, this week’s is also close to home.
