Kinlochshiel 1 Fort William 3 The Fort William reserves beat the Kinlochshiel reserves 3-0 at Rèaraig.

There was a minute’s silence ahead of throw-up to mark the passing of Skye Camanachd Chieftain Donnie Martin.

Mark Fraser almost got the visitors off to a great start after just 25 seconds. Lewis Murphy won possession from the centre and he pinged the ball forward to young Shaw on the left who found Fraser in space but his 20 yard shot was saved with his foot by Calum MacMillan, turning the ball away for a corner.

There was little further goalmouth action until the half hour when Lewis Murphy lobbed a good ball into the Kinlochshiel defence and Mark Fraser was quickest to react, finding space on the right before shooting inside keeper MacMillan’s post to make it 1-0.

Kinlochshiel made changes at the break and they levelled a minute after the restart. Zander MacRae got free of his marker and found Corin Jack on the right who struck the ball on the move and it flew past Fort keeper Stuart Disher.

The game became more open and it was Fort William who regained the lead on 72 minutes. A great move out of defence saw Murdo Shaw slip the ball by Martin MacRae on the Fort William left and he picked out Greig Kelly who was 30 yards from goal. Kelly hit a beautiful shot into the top corner of the goal to make it 2-1. Kinlochshiel responded but couldn’t hit the target and Fort William sealed victory a couple of minutes from time. Shaw weaved by Martin MacRae before finding Gordon Stevenson, who started in defence but was moved up front after suffering an injury, and he lost his marker to score from the right.
