Curtain up on classical concert for youngsters

-

Scotland on Tour returns to Oban's Rockfield Centre this June for a concert especially for little ones.

Recitals for Wrigglers will be putting on two sessions on Thursday June 2, at 10.30am and 2.30pm.

The concerts, delivered by professional violinist Louise Bevan and cellist Clea Friend, are especially tailored for babies and toddlers. Children can move around during the sessions that last for 30 to 40 minutes.

Cellist Clea said: 'Each of our concerts includes a story or fable that is carefully paired with musical accompaniment. At the end of the recital, we have a sing-along session and it’s lovely to see the children enjoying familiar songs and playing with the instruments provided.'

Scotland on Tour runs until April 2023. The remaining four shows confirmed for The Rockfield Centre as part of the series are Ainsley Hamill on Friday June 17, Mary Ann Kennedy and Finlay Wells on Saturday July 9, Ryan Young on Saturday October 8 and The Jellyman’s Daughter on Saturday October 22.

Scotland on Tour supports the creation of hundreds of concerts and performances at arts centres, town halls and community venues across Scotland. More than 120 artists will perform at more than 100 venues across the country as part of the initiative. The project, created and managed by Active Events, was made possible by £750,000 of Scottish Government funding.

The year-long Scotland on Tour bill includes emerging and established artists with genre-spanning acts, including rock, pop, jazz, classical, folk, trad and acoustic genres.
