Ceilidh boosts hospice funds

More than £2,000 was raised at a ceilidh and dance night for Oban Hospice.

Organisers were thrilled by the big turnout and support of musicians, singers and dancers at the Argyllshir­e Gathering Halls.

Entertaine­rs included members of the Oban High School Pipe Band and the National Mod-winning Oban Gaelic Choir under conductor Sileas Sinclair who was also the musical director for the evening.

The dance floor was always full under the stewardshi­p of Hector MacFadyen and there was plenty of homebaking to enjoy at the interval

The 2023 spring clean will focus on the weekend of Saturday March 25 and Sunday March 26, although some groups are already planning an early start in the week before.

“It is an opportunit­y for organised groups and individual­s to work together to pick their patch.

“We’d like as many people as possible to take with teas and coffees all made possible by the generous donations from local bakers.

“Thank you is also extended to all the businesses who donated prizes for the raffle.

“It would not have been possible to hold the ceilidh without the support of Amanda MacPhail and her staff at the Argyllshir­e Gathering and lastly, but certainly not least, a special thank you to our Oban Hospice Fundraisin­g Group for arranging the whole evening and being on hand on Saturday for its smooth running,” said Oban Hospice Dove Centre co-ordinator Peter Darling.
