Scotland on Tour

-

Scotland on Tour returns this March with three gigs across Argyll and Lochaber.

The exciting initiative to support the recovery of Scotland’s live music industry rocks up at Oban’s Rockfield Centre this Saturday, March 4, when the inimitable Scots trad duo Eilidh Shaw and Ross Martin take to its stage.

Eilidh Shaw, on fiddle and vocals, and guitarist Ross Martin have been at the heart of the Scottish music scene over the last 20 years, and have toured the world both with their own groups and as guest artists with a vast array of performers.

Probably best known for their work with The Poozies and Daimh, they also made up two-fifths of the cult folk explosion Harem Scarem.

Eilidh said: “We are excited to be performing at The Rockfield Centre this spring. It’s a fantastic venue and Oban always has a great crowd! We are grateful to Scotland on Tour for helping to make it happen.”

Verity Roberts, culture and creative officer at The Rockfield Centre, added: “We are thrilled to bring another top tier Scotland on Tour performance to Oban.

“Eilidh Shaw and combines the talent and experience of Ruth Morris on the nyckelharpa, Gavin Marwick on the fiddle and Phil Alexander on the accordion and piano to produce beautiful Swedish polkas and Scottish reels.

Introducing The Racer Café as a new venue for its gigs, promoter Campbell Cameron of Making It Happen said: “The Firelight Trio bring a similar energy to our previous musical events that charms our loyal audience.

“This will be a very special evening as we offer an optional early curry at the café and then a splendid concert, with cakes and coffee also available. Audience members are welcome to bring their own bottle.”

Scotland on Tour is taking place over 12 months between April 2022 and 2023, creating hundreds of concerts and performances at much-loved arts centres, town halls and community venues across the country.

The project, which has been created and managed by Active Events, was made possible by £750,000 of Scottish Government backing.

Tickets for these and a raft of other shows are on sale now at www.scotlandontour.com.
