Glenfinnan Community Council

-

Glenfinnan Community Council (GCC) held its monthly meeting on Wednesday February 8 over Zoom and in the Jetty Hut.

Among the issues discussed were:

Moving the defibrillator to the Jetty Hut – Fort builders have not yet been to Glenfinnan to estimate costs.

The SCIO has discussed moving the GCC’s defibrillator from the Glenfinnan House Hotel to the Jetty Hut. The general thoughts are that people know where it is, parking is available and it is central and to leave it in situ.

Backtrack – David Devine was contacted to ask him to arrange the emergency clearance of the drain nearest the top of the backtrack. He responded immediately and contacted BEAR Scotland. There has been activity.

The state of the top of the backtrack continues to deteriorate and muddy ruts can be seen leading to one of the plots. Photographs have been taken for records. GCC chairperson Ally Entwistle has been included in all email correspondence. Remedial work will be carried out once the building work is completed, which should be in the next few weeks.

GCC treasurer Frances Whyte said that, according to the planning permission, maintenance of access should be ongoing through the build.

There are photographs of the damage caused by a concrete lorry accessing the building site. Concerns about the debris in the culvert were also noted.

It was pointed out that the GCC needs to protect the welfare of the residents and one resident’s quality of life is definitely being affected by the state of the top of the backtrack.

Contractors will be asked to make good and give a time scale.

Burn’s Night – NTS were thanked for the generous donation for the raffle at Burn’s Night while GCC committee members Frances Whyte and Joan Robertson were also thanked for running such an enjoyable evening.

The Shore Path – The path has deteriorated further, especially at the pier end, as a consequence of the high water and awful weather.

A village working party is to be gathered and a date in May chosen to improve the Shore path.

Councillor Liz Saggers told members that there was a discretionary fund which could help contribute towards for the coastal path repairs.

Date of next meeting – Wednesday March 8 at 7pm in the Jetty Hut and on Zoom.
