Award-winning Calum releases new single

-

Oh my Darlin’ is the latest single from Highland accordionist and singer Calum MacPhail, set for release on Friday April 7.

The track, about falling in love and figuring out what dynamic works between a couple, is the second single from Calum’s debut album At Last…, which is due to be released a week later.

Calum, who hails from Fort William and lives in Inverness, is a member of the trad folk powerhouse band Hò-rò and released his debut solo EP in 2017.

In 2021, the energetic musician won the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards Original Work of the Year for his single 7 Years Old.

His most recent single Let Your Love Flow was released in November 2022 putting a fresh spin on the classic 1975 country song from The Bellamy Brothers. This single received airplay on numerous radio stations across the UK, including BBC Radio Scotland.

Oh my Darlin’ features Calum MacPhail on vocals, Cathal Murphy on electric guitar and backing vocals, Sean Cousins of Hò-rò on acoustic guitar, Calum MacQuarrie on bass, Ivan Steele on whistle and Mark Scobbie on drums making for an epic sound and a song that will tug at your heartstrings and make you want to sing and dance.

Calum said: “This is my favourite song that I have written so far. It has a lot more passion than some of my previous recordings and I’m so happy the sound we achieved reflects the emotion of the lyrics perfectly. I think it has a good feel to it and I hope people will enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed making it.”

The single, written by Calum, was recorded at GloWorm Recording Studios with Ross Saunders.

Oh my Darlin’ will be available to download and stream on all major platforms from its release date.
